UASC Gains a Second OSHA Authorized Maritime Trainer

UASC Gains a Second OSHA Authorized Maritime Trainer

United Alliance Services has expanded its capability to provide critical and hard to find training to maritime and shipyard employers and industry workers. In a region where OSHA Authorized Maritime Trainers are few and far between, United Alliance Services (UASC) has expanded to be able to fill the gap. Marc A. Bianco, executive vice president of technical services and COO, has long been the go-to maritime trainer not only for United Alliance Services, but also in the Northeast. In order to obtain your OSHA Maritime instructor certification you must have at least three years of experience in the maritime industry, two years of experience in occupational safety and health, and complete OSHA course #5410. In addition to his vast experience in the occupational health and industry field, Marc is a Commander in the US Naval Reserve, where he has served for 27 years.  As UASC’s client base has grown, it seemed a natural next step to increase its ability to provide maritime training to existing and new clients.Ronald Raasch joined UASC in 2014 as a consultant and instructor. He is a graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, and has spent several years aboard a luxury cruise ship as an environmental health and safety officer. In addition to his OSHA general industry and disaster site worker trainer certifications he added OSHA #5400 Maritime Industry Trainer certification in 2015. Raasch and Bianco will each be instructing the upcoming open enrollment OSHA 10 Hour Maritime for Shipyard Employment Course #7615 on October 5th and 6th at UASC’s training facility in Wareham, MA.Raasch and Bianco are the only two OSHA Authorized maritime instructors in Massachusetts, and there are just a handful of others located in southern New England. This can become frustrating for those in the maritime industry- especially when looking for open enrollment training to fulfill a compliance requirement. UASC frequently has individuals travel to their location from all over New England to take their maritime classes. Upcoming class dates can be found on the UASC open enrollment training calendar.NAVSEA has two locations for the supervision of shipbuilding, conversion and repair (SUPSHIPS) in New England, as well as the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine. The 10 Hour OSHA Maritime Shipyard Employment training requirement applies to all of the repair and maintenance employees as stated above, in each of those three locations.Registration is still open for our OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Class on October 5th.OSHA 10 Hour Maritime for Shipyard Employment #7516 Next Class 10/5/15 Two day class that provides entry-level safety and health hazard information for shipyard employees.Registration Form
